Always fun to build a new relationship. Especially when it feels like it could be a new year over year partner.

Campazi - a natural Burundi, comes to us via the folks at Homage from their partners at Burundi Specialty Seeds.
“BSS became a producer partner in 2021 for Homage but is a relationship that originates to the beginning of our history in Burundi in 2013. BSS is led by an ambitious and determined trio of close friends Picasso, Zephyrin and Jeremiah. These guys are committed to their community and people they work with. The quality of their leadership and craft is next level and we couldn't be more excited to continue our friendship and partnership with this dynamic crew.
The 3 of them have been building a coffee production and exporting business model over the last 2-3 years in Burundi and have developed an innovative supply chain of coffee that is very unique amongst traditional routes in Burundi. Few coffee washing station owners in Burundi are also farming coffee at a large scale but these guys have developed a unique land lease model to plant 38,000+ coffee trees and establish an excellent model to produce specialty coffee. In tandem with their own production that will mature over the next few years they also are purchasing coffee cherries from surrounding small holders who no longer have a station in their community due to a recent popular station closure.
All of their production is sun dried natural coffees with a 3-5 day “yeast development” period with hill/community and day lot separation for pre-milling QC. This process has increased sweetness and clarity in acidity resulting in a spectacular cup. All of the coffee is processed at their production site called UMOCO which means “Light” in Burundi’s native language, Kirundi. A deep meaning of light in their mind is transparency with farmers and partners to develop real relationships for and with each other.” - Homage Coffee Source
