We started working with Higa Coffee Importers last year and this year we have brought in 3 lots with their help. We loved hosting Kenny from Higa earlier this year on his mad dash across the US. A wonderful surprise. This is our second of 3 lots this season.
Nyagishiru Coffee Washing Station is located near Buhinyuza in the Muyinga region. Around 850 coffee families delivery cherries to Nyagishiru. Matraco, the producer of this coffee and owner of the washing station also contributes to the overall output.
Farmers delivering cherry to Nyagishiru receive a 20% premium above the local market rate, while staff enjoys wages nearly 60% higher than the Burundi average.
This is a wonderfully fruity and complex cup. We find cranberry, cherry, dark chocolate, white tea, green tea, and tosted sugars.
